Obviously being in Texas, the FLDS raid is something that tends to be discussed. That said, please acually know a)what FLDS is and belives and b)some of the accounts of survivors BEFORE you (someone who doesn't read my LJ ;) start talking about all those poor women who need their children back. Are the women victims? Of course. Should the children still be at the Ranch? Hell NO!
Search FLDS survivor on google and you will find some very interesting accounts about what goes on in an FLDS community. Forcing teenage girls into marriage with an older man? Not good. Dumping teenage boys on the streets of nearby cities so that older men can have their huge share of "fillies". Bad thing to do. Watertorturing infants to make them more "pliable" and a proportionally large numbers of children who have died under questionable circumstances. VERY bad things to do. Stop blaming the Texas CPS as being intolerant of religion and lifestyle, and start realizing that any one of the things listed would be sufficient to have CPS collect your children for anyone else.
Those children need out of this community, and should only be reunited with their mother if she is willing to leave as well. It is an abusive environment, and the children in it were at risk for sexual and physical abuse.
CPS takes away children with very little evidence everyday. Feeling sorry for the mothers of these children does little to help, and doesn't mean they deserve to raise their children, if they aren't fit parents who protect their kids from harm.
To change the topic, I hope Danielle is feeling better. I must call tomorrow.
