Very interesting conversation my sister had on the phone today. Here's the gist:

The D.A.'s office called and said they had checked into her last phone call and can't see how it wouldn't have been documented that the drunk driver injured someone in the other car (or even mentioning the other car)

"All we show is that the driver ran a stop sign and was found to be DUI."
Sis: "It wasn't a stop sign, it was a red light that he ran"
"What date did you say this accident occurred on?"

Apparenting the drunk driver is going to court for a DUI that occurred 3 WEEKS BEFORE THE ACCIDENT WITH my nephews. And had a previous history before that.

What a &%#%#^% jerk! It's not enough to get in trouble multiple times, you don't stop until you almost kill people.

The preliminary court case to do with the more recent accident won't be until November. A friend who used to be a police officer advises me it likely won't go to actual trial for at least a year.

Man... he did this shit before? There's got to be a way to quicken this up and get this guy some much-deserved jail-time!

That's quick. I understand your frustration. My husband was the Chief of Police in our town for 18 years. We had people who hadn't had a drivers license for years, still drunk driving. It's ridiculous. I'm so sorry for all your troubles. Don't get put off, hang in there and get the job done. We need to crack down on people like him and the only way is for people in your situation not to give up. I'll keep you in my God Blesses. *hugs*
