update and recs
Jun. 23rd, 2009 05:58 pmFIL is still in the hospital, but seems to be recovering. His heart attack wasn't as serious as originally feared, but Tomu is still a bit freaked out.
I spent so much time in hospitals beside my own father, it became routine by the end. I think that is why none of us, not even my mom, realised he was dying until it was too late. FIL's illness is bringing this all back to me so I'm depressed as well.
So instead of typing fic (I've got 3 now that are written and all I need to do is type them. God I'm lazy) I've been reading other people's stories. And today I found two that made me cry like a baby ...
First, a TOS fanfiction that just is Spock to me, especially his reaction to Kirk's death. Not slash, more like Spock looking back on "what might have been" which makes the scene between Spock Prime and nuKirk even more angsty. I like that Saavik and other characters that are usually left out are mentioned as well. "Bitter Glass" has 7 parts and requires knowledge of at least all the original Star Trek films. http://seacouver.slashcity.net/killa/part1.html
But this one made me laugh and cry and it's my favorite today.
A really sweet, sad, hot and funny Sulu/Chekov story set about a year after the new film. Even if you don't think you will like this pairing, read "Now Disappear" http://hollycomb.livejournal.com/112046.html#cutid1
