trials of teaching and homecoming...
Shiaolin's mother died last week. She just gave us the news. I feel so bad for her, but I'm very glad she was able to visit her mother and be with her. She should be back in late fall...
School sucked today. Had to write up 3 kids for cursing, and had two other kids blow up at each other which took a good hour to sort out because I didn't see what happened and I couldn't figure out the situation right away. What I originally thought was the problem wasn't the real issue (hello? none of their classmates would tell what occurred and I'm not omniscent) so now the kid who was not really at fault is PO'ed and the other kid got away with cheating for a different class.
Aauugh! I'll deal with it Monday. I hate feeling like I've been made a fool of by someone half my age - and I always have to deal with the typical teenage "all adults are idiots" attitude anyway.
Thank God most of the kids are really good and I love them to death... Even some of the ones who act up in their other classes are being pretty decent for me.
Today was mum day for the school Homecoming game tonight. I have never before seen girls wear mums so large they had to wear a harness to hold it up (literally from neck to ankles)! The guys had huge mums too. When I was in high school a decade ago the mums were about half the size if not smaller and boys only wore matching garters. Watched the parade yesterday too, but it was so small and pathetic. At least some of my kids saw me watch them march by, though.
