One of my girls was absent yesterday, but I didn't think much of it. We found out today that her mother and 1 year old brother are in the hospital. They live in a 3rd floor apartment and somehow her mom fell down the stairs while carrying the baby. She'll be fine, but the baby is in a coma and they don't expect him to live. (send positive thoughts or prayers their way please!)

Needless to say, my student is not okay right now and I just feel so bad for her. There's no father or other family so she's taking the brunt of this trying to give her mom support.

I walked very slowly and carefully up to our 3rd floor apartment tonight, and I think I will be investing in a hip sling to carry Fox up and down the stairs in from now on. I can't wait to move this summer now....

That's terrible. I fell down the stairs with Janice and almost broke my neck when I landed because I refused to let her hit the ground. I still remember how afraid I was.
