mockingbirdqWe survived the storms that have swept our area the past two nights - first hail, then high winds last night. This morning there was lots of damage and electricity out everywhere - not for me obviously. By later today, you mainly noticed fallen trees and mangled fences. Lots of neighbors working on their rooves tonight.
Fox has been sleeping in his own bed, but crawled into ours last night due to the storm. I can't blame him. Tomu and I were up part of the night watching weather reports and listening to sirens, so we are all tired and grumpy. Fox is having photos taken tomorrow at school, and I can't wait to see them :)
I am beyond pissed at one of the counselors at my school. She had the kid who is #30 in her class (and we are a huge school) and has been going throught the immigration hoops for 10 years, crying today because she told her there is no financial aid available for undocumented immigrants. In case you didn't know, this is not true - students just have to be careful how they apply so as not to have their information submitted to ICE. So, I am dropping a ton of documents on the subject down to all the counselors, and planning a meeting with my seniors to help them go through the process. After a 48 hour counseling master's degree and a lot more money than I make, they can't learn something this simple? I think I should be a counselor because I'm tired of them screwing with my immigrant kids. Grrr....
