I grew up reading Marvel and DC comics. I remember visiting comic stores even at 7 years old, and reading Spiderman and Amythest:Princess of Gemworld. As I got older I moved on to independent comics and Japanese manga, but my heart has always been with plain old superhero comics. I'm still known to pick up an interesting looking X-men or Green Lantern comic every now and then. I love Whedon's run on Astonishing X-men, despite its many delays, simply because he does justice to my childhood heroine Kitty Pryde, and lets her finally get together with her first love (I cried at 12 when Piotr broke up with her ;)

So the ongoing trend of highly sexualized looking female characters turns me off, as does the constant deaths of other female characters simply to allow angst for the male characters. The girlfriend-in-the-refridgerator incident a few years ago was just the straw that broke the camel's back for a lot of female fans, including me. Except for rare exceptions, I've given up finding decent female characters, and spend a lot of time identifying with male characters in manga instead, because I can't identify with the 2 dimensional women in American comics. Period.

So I was overjoyed to see this on Scans daily today. I will now read Super Stupor religiously, I swear:

Super Stupor

Just once, I want to see this happen.

I do adore www.girl-wonder.org as well ;)

Surprised you missed when it first got link-posted all over the place. [personal profile] kobold had a follow up strip to this one as well...

I just wanted to let you know they brought back Magik.

As for Kitty, I personally would have been happier to see her stick with Pete Wisdom.

That comic was hilarious. Lois Lane and Mary Jane Watson can learn a few things from her.

Don't you know? Mary Jane isn't in the picture anymore... Quesada got his wish!

I heard. Though with public outcry and the future Spiderman saw, they should get back together by Spiderman 4. *snicker*

What? When??!!!

Illyana was my favorite for years, along with Kitty. A demonic darkchild was my idol in high school ;)

And Pete Wisdom?? He was such a jerk. It was just... pitiful. Meh!

Which doesn't mean I would want her with Piotr forever, but she deserved to be with him at some point in her life, y'know.

I don't know how I missed it, but I did. I'll check out the follow up!

Yeah, Wisdom was a jerk, but he did right by Kitty, which is more than what Piotr did.

Well, it first happened in "House of M:" After the Scarlet Witch altered reality, she made it so Illyana never died from the Legacy Virus, and when reality was set back the way it was, that Illyana made it back to the 616 reality.

So, you called it all those years ago.

Nope, not while Quesada's Editor-in-Chief. He hated Spidey's Marriage from the get-go. In fact, he's eventually going to have the entire Marvel universe conform to Brand New Day.

I am glad that I don't read comic then. *snicker*
