So the flak about the Open Source Boob Project is making the rounds at lj. At first I thought, how is that any worse than slave collars and chain mail bikinis (ya gotta love fandom) but then I realized some simple facts:

How would I feel if I attended con this summer and witnessed fanboys running around feeling women's boobs while MY CHILD IS WATCHING? How outraged would I feel if someone asked me, then muttered "bitch" when I said no (and you know they would, because straight guys are just like that too often)? If I was younger, one of the only females in a large groups of guys (which is how it always was with my friends) and I was asked which button to wear, how pressured would I feel to take the "yes" button in an attempt to be cool and win my friends' admiration? When I was younger, I would have gone along with it, and felt ashamed later, when creepy guys like Josh (creepiest guy in fandom ever) from Anime club were fondling a body part that I wouldn't really want them to...

Anyway, from those out of the fandom loops, a group of guys went around a con in Michigan asking to grope women's breasts. Ferret thought he must share this beautiful experience of touching breasts of random women. Other fanboys thought this was "Like WOW" and had visions of cons where they FINALLY GET TO TOUCH A REAL GIRL, while fangirls had visions of slimy strangers backing them into corners and assaulting them if they weren't wearing a red NO button. Fanguys (and some girls who are proud of their participant ribbons)don't get why women are upset with the thought of being subject to this at any event, ignoring the fact that no guy (in the gender neutral sense) has a right to ask any women to let him cop a feel.

And my last word? Straight guys need to get over the boob fixation!!! Tits exist to feed babies - not for your enjoyment. If your wife or SO chooses to grace you with a set to play with, take it as the priviledge it is. They are a sensitive body part, and there is a reason most women don't want random strangers to mess with them. If you want a pair, go have some implants and play with yourself, but leave fandom out of it ;P

Yus, it's rly problematic :( And there'd be so much pressure to go along with it and also that guys will think if you say yes to some, you must say yes to all... and of course if you say no, then you're a bitch :(

And srsly... my boobs are my own, they dun exist for men, and honestly, there's something rly creepy about guys who think touching a girl's boobs is the greatest experience they'll EVAR have and not treating us like real ppl but just 2 boobs on a body :\

Plus there was that initial defense about how it was giving self esteem to girls so that they knew they were beautiful and "worthy" of male gropage, b/c y'know a woman's worth is dependant on if her body pleases men :\

Even the original guy has since realized it's a bad idea and discourages ppl from building on it :D (which impresses me :) )

Suddenly I'm reminded of an old SNL skit where these aliens come down to earth with eyes on their boobs; they were so designed so guys could actually look them in the eye. Kinda piggish, now that I think about it.
