Oct. 12th, 2008 01:25 amMy throat hurts so much I can't sleep, but I won't be taking any painkillers to help, because I can't swallow at the moment - and No, it's not because of the strep...
Earlier tonight I was taking my new antibiotic, and I don't know HOW, but I managed to actually choke on the stupid pill. Not have it stuck in my throat, but actually choke on it.
It was the most awful feeling. I couldn't inhale or exhale. I tried to call Tomu but I couldn't make a sound. Fox was watching me with a dazed look on his face since he had been sitting right next to me before I got up, and I managed to get to the bedroom where Tomu used the hemlich on me multiple times before getting any result.
I then spent the next 20 minutes choking and vomiting while Tomu pounded on my back and pulled my hair out of the way because some of the damn pill had dissolved in the time it took to get it out. I guess he really does love me ;)
I suspect all my pills will be taken crushed in applesauce from now on, because this is an experience I never want to repeat. I'm croaking like a frog and my throat feels like after having your lungs pumped in a hospital (which I know from constant phleam testing as a kid in the hospital for asthma.)
I can't believe the darn thing made it so far down my throat. And I thought only small children could choke on pills...
Can I have a do over for the entire last week, or maybe even month. Life is not wonderful lately.
Of course, Fox is traumatized and just kept saying "Momma, you looked funny and you were choking and I thought you would die!" How does a four year old even know what choking is or that people die from it. Pobrecito...
Drinking hurts, and I'm hungry but I can't even imagine eating. Ugh!

Date: 2008-10-13 02:13 am (UTC)I've had them stick a bit going down but I've never tried to inhale one before. Not gonna do that again if I can help it.
I'm off antibiotics until tomorrow because the current ones can't be crushed. I'll have to talk to the doc tomorrow.
