It's finished! I finally posted the last part of "Hidden Memories". It's the longest fic I've ever written. I may still go back and edit it a bit later, but I'm done with it for now.

That said, I now have so much respect for Kracken and Sunhawk and other writers I love who have written huge, epic fanfiction universes. How do you survive the sheer amount of work that goes into the stories? One shots are so much easier to write.

But I'm glad to have done it, and I'm already starting on another long series. Maybe I'll even manage something with more than 8 chapters later ;)

If you're really serious about writing a long fiction here's how to start. Set a chapter length. Decided on one main plot point per chapter and two minor ones. You need three or four peaks to a story. In other words, your plot builds up to a major climax eases off then builds up again. The plot points build the tension then ease it off with minor points helping along the way. If you plan it out, you'll have a long story. I know this works, I just don't use it. I write stream of consciousness, in other words, I start, I write, I quit. And I wind up with some inconsistencies. Good luck. Big hint ... 3x5 cards. *g*
