So in 2009, I found out I was pregnant, discovered what hyperemesis gravidarum was,Fox began kindegarten and I wrote far too much Star Trek fanficiton. Not a horrible year, if a bit frustrating ;)

Found this blog post a few days ago and want to share it, since she makes a nice in-your-face argument against RIC. Not very scientific in her arguments, but I think that actually makes the post stronger. Share with expectant parents if you agree with her and me.

Ah, I needed that. It's always good to get shored up around the decision not to circumcise.

I feel so bad for little circumcised babies. Just because they can't fight back or speak up for themselves, people think it's okay to do all kinds of horrible things to them.

I don't blame parents because they often don't even think about what they are doing. A mother's husband is circumcised, so it's "normal" and they don't realize what they are doing is genital mutilation to their child. Most women would throw themselves under a bus before letting a doctor cut their daughter's genitals in this country!

I do blame the doctors and other health professionals who promote infant circumcision in the US and PROFIT from it, at the expense of the children they hurt. They are the ones who know better and should educate parents (First, do no harm... right?)

I find this an inadequate excuse. Every parent is responsible for what they do to their children, period, otherwise the concept of personal responsibility is meaningless.
