May. 10th, 2007 10:17 pmSO I'm thinking about applying to other school districts this summer, and seeing if I can get any offers. I love my kids but the new principal is a prick and 1/2, and very obsessed with the fact that my kids are dragging down our schools' TAKS scores - despite the fact that their scores are higher now than they have EVER been.
It has also been strongly suggested that I should go back to school and get my spanish certification. Um... If I had wanted to teach Spanish I would have taken more than 2 years of it in college. I teach ENGLISH, not spanish, even if it would be convenient for you to have me do all your translating and pull me away from class even more. ESL teachers don't teach in spanish - we have students in every class who speak different languages other than spanish.
I cannot make most kids fluent in less than 3 years just to improve TAKS scores. Language fluency takes an average of 7-10 years!!!Idiot Admins...
I don't know if I can stand to stick it out at this school another year. I'm praying for summer and dreading next fall already. All schools can't be this persecutive, right?
