Jun. 1st, 2009 08:06 amSchool is over. I spoke with my principal, but it boils down to the fact that I am still going to have to be in the same room next year, and everything will be beyond uncomfortable. I'm applying for a few teaching jobs elsewhere, just to see what comes up. I think is is time to go back to college for my master of library science as well.
If you were horrified by the assasination of Dr. Tiller, as I was, naamah-darling has some good suggestions of where to donate funds.

Personally I blame Bill O'Reilly for constantly foaming at the mouth about Tiller on Fox.
For those who are pro-life on my flist, and wonder why you should not support actions like this (y'know, other than the fact that most people I know who are pro-life don't support killing anyone) please read this link:

If you just search for "kansas stories abortion", you will many other women telling similar stories. However you feel about the idea of abortion, doctors like Dr. Tiller are necessary to help women who find they have cancer while pregnant, or whose baby will be born without a brain and forced on life support after birth.
Despite what O'Reily and many pro-life leaders want to claim, the majority of the abortions Tiller performed were medically necessary to the mother's physical health, or more commonly - to spare a child who will not be able to support life unneeded suffering. These were mothers who often wanted their children and were devastated by diagnosis that could not be made until late in the pregnancy. They did not deserve to have to fight their way through protesters for the "privilege" of losing their child, and Dr. Tiller did not deserve to die for helping them.
I'm not even going to discuss the fact that we are suddenly closer to war with N. Korea.
