I actually made it through my first day of teaching without doing too badly.

Finally got a schedule - one of my classes had 27 non English speaking kids in it, while the next class had only 2! And the person in charge of scheduling treated me like an idiot when I asked her to fix that - says she MIGHT have it corrected by next week.

So I'm just trying to survive tomorrow intact - planning to play games and just have a fun day in order to avoid a mutiny by my students.

Most of whom, I can already tell are really great kids. I just feel sorry for them having to deal with a first year teacher and hope I can do them justice. Already had 3 kids in our program decide to skip all their classes and take all 3 lunch periods though, so things may be harder once they're part of my classroom and fighting to get away.

I forgot the first day of school was nothing but paperwork. Some of my classes ran short and for some of them I ran out of things to do. I forgot to give my classes an assignment I had planned for tomorrow too. It wasn't a perfect begining but I guess I'll figure it out...
