Things are improving now, although I can't wait to go back and visit Nac this weekend. (Mommy food - Yah!)

I'm learning to yell softly, explain 300 times why we have to study things even if they are boring, slam a book on the table to get the class' attention and EVERY extremely nasty cuss word that exists in Espanol. In other words, I'm catching on and becoming a real teacher.

I am also learning that some of my kids are so amazingly focused while others have nothing to live for really. One of my boys from Vietnam lives with a college student since his family did not come to the US, stays up every night until 2am studying and doing homework, goes to school a 6am and STILL works full time. He's only 16 BTW. I have at least 5 like those.

OTOH, I have students born here in the US who know quite a lot of English aas a second language and are only in my classes because they fail EVERYTHING. They are assigned to me because they tested negative for LDs so SURELY their problem must be language related @_@ Don't get me wrong, language comprehension can play a role, but for at least two of these students it's pure lack of motivation, which I'm trying to give them.

Fox can stand alone for 6 seconds now. We timed it. Betcha he walks by October ;)
